Saturday’s International Online Forum delivered several outstanding stock candidates for your 2017 stocks-to-study WatchList. The stock ideas came from you, members of our VectorVest Community, and as Audrey K. commented in the chat box, “We do have some great pickers!”

We also learned a few stock analysis methods that our members are using, techniques we can try for ourselves. One technique was to run the New Buys Search (Trends – New Stuff) folder, and draw some trendlines leading up to the New Buy.  It’s amazing how often a bullish pattern or resistance breakouts show themselves.

Judging from the comments in the chat box, this ‘Stock Chat’ format is something we’ll want to do again real soon. It was definitely lively and fun. Participation was outstanding as members weighed in on the various stock choices and offered their own ideas for stocks to study in 2017.

It was noted that not all of the stock selections are at a buy point right now. What our submitters liked about them is their business model, in many cases the industry, and their VectorVest valuations.

Tuesday Webinar: You’re invited! Please join me Tuesday, Jan. 10 for our regular weekly Special Presentation Q&A webinar at 12:30 pm Eastern / 9:30 am Pacific. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER NOW. In addition to answering your questions about Friday’s SOTW Video on, Smarter Short Searches, we’ll take some time to show you how we have set up Saturday’s stock choices in both a WatchList and a QuickFolio to track their performance in 2017. Time permitting, we will analyze as a group some of the stocks we didn’t get to on Saturday.

Stock Ideas for 2017 – Below are the submissions from our VectorVest community of stocks to watch in 2017. Just a reminder, these are not recommendations. Rather, they are stocks that investors in our group are watching and have recommended them for your own study with our VectorVest tools. Some may currently be at a buy point and others are not. Stocks that were submitted with comments and analysis in advance of the Forum are in red at the front of the list. The remaining stocks were submitted during the Forum. Note: I’ve done my best, but sorry if I missed anyone’s suggestion. Some picks are not in VV, so please email [email protected] for a New Stock Request if you would like to see it covered.

Here are some additional comments that came in during the Forum:
ATD.B:CA – 2016 performance only 2.15% but 2011 to 2016 ARR was 49.62%. Strong institutional buying recently. (Mike G.)
PD:CA and PDS:US – I believe it has plenty of upside with exposure to US, Middle East and Canada and oil price moving toward $55 and possibly $60 in 2017. (David L.)
IDCC:US – Just signed AAPL license deal. (Robert. W) IDCC also signed Huawei (licensing dispute resolution) (Mike P.)
FLY:CA – Aerospace Industry Group. We’ve owned it for years and it’s finally starting to make money. Recent breakout. Company makes a system for communicating with aircraft via satellite and does for more than track aircraft location. It can also track numerous aircraft functions and their unit is a realtime black box. (Linda M.)
ETSY:US – Bullish hammer 12/3/16. Meets as of yesterday Petra’s EMA/SMA crossover. Heavy call options volume for March at $15. Rising RSI and volume. (Bob O.)
ELC:CA – Nice little penny stock. (Mike L.)
JNUG:US – My stock pick for the next while and maybe the year has to be JNUG – based on gold’s low prices now and building momentum. Rising interest rates may hold things back somewhat – so still have to be careful – as always. (Barry K.)
IGM:CA and PWF:CA – should be good picks in 2017. (Art G.)
PAAS:US AND PAA:CA; SSRI:US AND SSO:CA; AG:US AND FR:CA – Several silver mining stocks have shown promise. (David G.)
ECI:CA – For those who like following Jason Donville – he wrote a glowing report. He has great expectations for ECI in the solar panel industry going forward and says he is getting paid with a nice dividend while he waits. Div. yield over 5% and good looking 5-year chart. (Alan Y.)
XBM:CA – re NMX, I just buy XBM ishares (metals) instead. (Tim T.)
CZO:CA – made a nice profit in Dec/16. Looking to buy again if it breaks resistance over $2.01 (Neal A.)
